As a family of four (three adults and one adventurous toddler), with one adult using a manual wheelchair for mobility, travelling the world to uncover its accessibility can often be a challenge. When we arrived in Siem Reap, Cambodia, we were eager to explore the iconic Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples but needed a tour company that could accommodate our unique needs. Enter Connect Cambodia – a team that turned what could have been a logistical challenge into an unforgettable adventure.
From the moment we contacted them, it was clear that Connect Cambodia was not just about providing tours – they were about creating experiences. Over two incredible days, we explored Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, and Ta Prohm, with a delicious lunch in a local village that gave us a taste of authentic Cambodian hospitality. What truly stood out was the thoughtfulness and care of our guide, Vantey, and our driver. They ensured we had full access to the temple grounds, driving us as close as possible to the temples so that we didn’t have to navigate long distances. This level of consideration made all the difference for our family, especially for our wheelchair user, who cannot walk at all.
One of the highlights of our trip was an early morning sunrise visit to the temples, which serendipitously coincided with the equinox. Watching the first rays of sunlight illuminate the ancient structures was nothing short of magical – a moment we will treasure forever.
Throughout both days, nothing was ever too much trouble for the Connect Cambodia team. Their warmth, professionalism, and genuine desire to make our experience special shone through in every detail. They not only made the temples accessible but also made us feel welcome, cared for, and completely at ease.
For any family, especially those navigating accessibility challenges, we cannot recommend Connect Cambodia enough. They turned our dream of exploring Angkor Wat into a reality, and for that, we are endlessly grateful. What started as an airport to hotel transfer then changed to hiring this company for our private tour in Cambodia . We were two females travelling from abroad with no in depth knowledge about the local customs and logistics. I had an itinerary shared with Geoff the organizer , who then provided some suggestions that also included the floating village . Vanthay our Tour Guide took care of us over 2 days .  He was knowledgeable regarding the important history of  the magnificent Angkor temples , he escorted us on a wonderful tour of the temples with great enthusiasm and even became our personal photographer !He also suggested a dinner dance ( Apsara dance ) which was entertaining . He was always with us in each activity , providing recommendations to sample local food and had helped us make the most of our stay . We ended up touring the Kampong Phluk Village and took a ride in the small boats through the mangroves  , a highlight of our trip to Cambodia . This was a tour with my friend ,I hope to return with family for sure . Thank you Vanthay for being an amazing host and Geoff for the plan .
